The Wulf family was a normal, peaceful family that had just moved to a small town in Pennsylvania.  Clawde Wolf and Regina Wulf we’re the parents of a 7-year-old girl named Stella Luna.  For many years, the family had always kept to themselves and home schooled their child. Then one day, the Wulfs decided to involve themselves more in society, and introduce their daughter to a new world where she can retain more and make friends. Although kind, caring and of good nature the Wulf Family wasn’t your average family. They we’re a family of human and werewolf.

It was a cold, grey Monday morning. The Wulf’s had just finished settling in their new house on the corner of Lycan Ave. “Stella Luna…” Regina Wulf softly whispered, as she nudged her daughter to wake. “Stella Luna, wake up my love. Today is your big day”. Stella Luna immerged from her pink and purple blanket. Her tired eyes finally pried open to reveal her beautiful black and yellow wolf eyes. “Come downstairs and get some breakfast after getting dressed” Regina Wulf said to her daughter, who collapsed her head back on her pink pillow with lifeless energy. 

Regina Wulf left the room, and Stella Luna rose up from her bed. She stretched, yawned and proceeded to get up and off of her bed. She walked over to her dresser and grabbed her brush. She looked at herself in the mirror and began to brush her long, grey fur. In the mirror, she saw a little girl with a dogface, fangs and grey and black fur all over. She had the appearance of a wolf pup, and the figure of a child.  After combing her mane, she pulled out a little black dress with a pink paw on the front, put on her favorite pink bow and ran downstairs. She trotted down the steps to find her father sitting at the table reading the newspaper.  She hopped up on the seat across from him and he removed the paper from in front of his face. “Good morning pupster!”  barked Clawde Wulf. The loudness of his voice startled Stella Luna, snapping her out of her tired like state. “Hey daddy” Stella Luna said sweetly.  Regina Wulf entered the dining room with two bowls of  “crescent’s finest dog food”, and a plate of fresh salad. She set the two bowls in front of Stella Luna and her father, and set the plate of fresh salad before herself.  “Eat up Stella Luna, you need to be energized and ready for today” Regina said. Stella Luna had wondered what her mother was talking about. Stella Luna’s parents had wanted to surprise her with where they were taking her, so they hadn’t mentioned where they were going to go.

After breakfast, the Wulf family went outside and got in the car. Regina Wulf drove and Clawde Wulf hopped in the passenger seat and popped his head out the window, ready to enjoy the car ride. Little Stella Luna hopped into the backseat where she rolled the window down, and peaked her head outside. As Regina pulled out of the drive way, Stella Luna sat back down in her seat. “Daddy, where are we going? Mommy won’t tell me!” Stella Luna whined. “It’s a surprise sweetie.” Clawde Wulf said. Several minutes later, the car stopped right in front of a small building that read “Boris Karloff Elementary School”. Stella Luna knew what school was, but she had never attended a school with other people.  Regina Wulf and Clawde Wulf exited the car, and Stella Luna followed their example. Regina Wulf took Stella Luna by her paw, and she walked inside the small building with her parents.

When they entered the building, they approached a green door. Before walking in, Clawde Wulf patted his daughter on her head and said “Ready kiddo?” Stella Luna pulled away from her dad’s paw, and looked to see her mother opening the door.  They walked into a classroom to find small children had stopped what they we’re doing and averted their eyes to their new visitors. Stella Luna panned the room and saw a bunch of boys and girls staring at her oddly. The room fell silent, and out of the silence came a woman. “Ah! Here’s our little new edition to the class!” she shook Stella Luna’s parent’s hand and paw, then leaned down to Stella Luna. “You must be Stella Luna. I’m ms. Bane, your teacher. You’re going to love it here.” She smiled, then stood up to Regina Wulf and Clawde Wulf’s level. “I’ll take it from here, we’ll see you later!” Ms. Bane took Stella Luna by her paw and began to walk her to her desk. Stella Luna froze in terror, and looked to her parent’s for help. “It’s okay stelly”, Clawde wulf said. “You’re going to have fun here, your mother and I will fetch ya later!” Stella Luna’s parent’s left the room, and was led to a small desk. She sat down, and looked up at Ms. Bane. “This is your desk Stella Luna” Ms. Bane smiled. “Class, this is Stella Luna. She is new to the class so lets make her feel welcome!” Ms. Bane walked away, and Stella Luna stared shyly at her desk. 

Assignment 04 MY STORY IDEA AND 2 STORY CRITIQUES

Outline

Characters

-       Stella Luna Wulf–Stella Luna is a 7-year-old girl who comes from a family of werewolves. She initially despises her appearance of being half girl and half wolf, and often finds herself to have complications in her life. She is sweet and innocent like any other child and carries the attributes of a normal little girl.

-       Clawde wulf – Clawde Wulf is Stella Luna’s father. He is a full werewolf, and is married to Regina Wulf. Although he appears to be a intimidating, ravenous wolf, he is a good father who cares for his family very much. He tries to encourage his daughter to embrace her mutation and tries to teach her that she can still fit in with everyone else despite her appearance.

-       Regina Wulf – Regina Wulf is Stella Luna’s mother. She is full human, and she loves and cares for her husband and daughter. She tries to encourage Stella Luna to love herself, and realize that she is a normal child just like everyone else in her class.

Situation

-       Stella Luna attends “Boris Karloff” elementary school in Pennsylvania. She and her family had barely moved there from another small town, and they are settling in. The family consists of three members, a Werewolf father named Clawde, a human mother named Regina and the main character herself, Stella Luna, who is half wolf and half human. Stella Luna is the only one in her class who appears to be different from her other peers. She has complications fitting in and performing certain activities without either losing control of her “wild” side, or simply being excluded and made fun of by her class mates.  She returns home daily, dreading the next day of school. Her parent’s try to give her new advice each day on how she can make situations better but they don’t seem to help at first.

Obstacles

-       Stella Luna goes to school and is constantly made fun of by certain classmates because she looks like a dog. She also has trouble with certain activities in school. For instance, her classmates and P.E teacher scold her because she runs too fast. She is told it isn’t fair because she is an “animal”. She also has trouble not eating her homework, and her dog like instincts and attributes affect her focus in class or on the playground.

What Happens

- She eventually finds something she is good at, and that impresses her teacher and peers. And finally, she manages to better herself and prove to her classmates that she is a normal little girl like everyone else.

ASSIGNMENT 03 (ONE TIME)

- Kay, so one day my grandma, mom, uncle and I we're at the laundry place. We would go there sometimes cause my clothes would get really dirty, and my parents didn't like it when my clothes we're dirty. We had lots of dirty clothes that needed to be washed. I like to help sometimes, but my grandma tells me my job is to be quiet, sit down and play with my toys. Sometimes I get really bored playing with my toys at the laundry place. So I decided to play something different this time. There are lots of cool things at the laundry place, like big machines, a sink, and carts. I wanted to have an adventure, so I pretended that the washing machines were evil robots, and my space ship was the laundry cart. When my grandma wasn't looking, I jumped into the laundry cart, and scooted up and down the aisles. I got inside by climbing on a chair. I had fun scooting around in the cart, but then I wanted to get out. The cart was too tall for me and I couldn't get down. So I decided to jump off of the cart. I stood up and jump out, but my leg got caught on the cart and I slammed my face on the ground and I cried soo bad! Everyone in the laundry place looked and me and my grandma ran over to me. She got really mad at me and spanked me. It hurted alot and I cried more. She yelled at me and told me to sit down, and be quiet. I ran over to the bench. I was soo mad. My butt hurt alot and so did my face, so I decided that my grandma was bad for spanking me. So I ran behind the washing machine robot and I started hiding. I waited for her to come around the corner where the dryers were. Then I heard a cart coming, and then when she passed me and jumped up and I spanked her as hard as a could and I did like 3 times. I heard her scream, but it didn't sound like her, I looked up and it wasn't my grandma! It was another old lady! She yelled at me and I ran away as fast as I could to go hide. The lad¥ chased me and then my grandma started chasin me. I ran and I turned around and two old ladies we're chasing me. I hid behind my mom and my uncle and they we're laughin really hard. It was a scary day.

ASSIGNMENT 02

It was 8:34 pm, only 6 minutes until we were up on stage. I frantically searched for my guitar and amp which my band mates and friends we're helping carry in the venue, but there was no sign of them or my equipment anywhere. The promoter of the venue kept nagging at me saying "hurry up! why werent you guys here earlier?! you're the headlining band for christs sake!" The crowd was in a frenzy, chanting my bands name "harlequin! harlequin". I called my drummer's cell phone, no answer. My bassist? no answer, my guitarist didnt have her cell phone with her. Where could they be?" I thought to myself. I ran towards the back of the building where I saw our truck and the equipment was sitting in the back on the bed. Furiously, I ran over to the truck wondering why none of it had been carried in yet. We were moments away from a huge opportunity that we were about to miss out on, and my members we're no where to be found. I could hear the thunderous roar of the crowd inside the venue. Their chants we're getting louder and my heart was pumping faster. With a sigh of frusteration, I leaned myself against the truck. Suddenly, I heard a noise. It was coming from inside the truck. I couldnt see inside the windows because they were tinted, but someone was in there. Without thinking I opened the door and to my horror I found nothing. I slammed the door, and I was ready to give up. The promoter stormed out from the back doors and marched my way. He was furious, and just as he was about to scream at me I saw them. They had walked from around the corner into the venue. Enraged, I ran after them ignoring the promoters scolding. As I barged in, there my members we're

Assignment 01

Part 1

1-    Name – Tawney Arredondo

2-    What kind of job do you want in the industry once you graduate? – I would like to be a storyboard artist or character designer

3-    What kind of required skills are needed to get that type job? – Well for storyboard artist you are required to draw various aspects of the film, you need to be able to convert verbal information to a visual demonstration of how the film will potentially play out. Other requirements include but are not limited to organizing/managing timelines, implementing various computor programs to enhance the visual presentation of ideas or the scene and the ability to capture both the activity and emotion of the scene. For character Design, you would need to have good drawing skills as well as being well rounded on editing software’s, i.e photoshop, maya, depending on what style

4-    What are you currently doing to prepare yourself? – Aside from taking the necessary courses at A.I, I’m researching other storyboarding artist/character designers and role modeling them, researching what I need to know to become successful at my desired career and doing freelance work and using the practice to my advantage.

5-    What art classes both traditional and digital have you taken? – Image Manipulation, Observational Drawing, Character Design, fundamentals of drawing,  2D animation, Motion Graphics

 EDWARD GOREY - "Gashlycrumb Tinies"

     1- A short summary of the story itself - One story I like in particular is called "The gashlycrumb tinies" by Edward Gorey. It's a short story that tells of unfortunete deaths of children according to the first letter of their name alphabetically.


2- why & what you like about it? Your favorite part? I like that it's supposed to look like a childrens story/book, but it's actually very disturbing and violent. I don't have a particular favorite part, but the illustrations are creepy and are done with a rapidograph pen.


3- the author -name & where they work now  & links to their work - The author's name is Edward Gorey.  He was born February 22, 1925 – April 15, 2000. He's no longer alive, but the last project he was doing was a potential film with Tim Burton. No word on whether or not the film is going to be released due to the fact that Gorey died in the process of working on it.
 
4- what is their education & training - He went to Francis W. Parker school, and he also attended a number of local art schools in Chicago where he was born.
 
5- how did they get to where they are today? - Gorey became well known for his decieving child stories/illustrations that we're in reality macabre and not intended for children. He was unique for his time, and broke away from the norm of child illustrations.
 
6- what advice do they have for aspiring writers? - N/A (he never gave advice to aspiring writers. He was considered more of an illustrator rather than a writer)
















EDGAR ALLAN POE "THE RAVEN"

1- The raven is a poem/story about a widowed man who is lonely and depressed in his mansion. He is then visited by a raven who says "nevermore" to the man repeatedly, hence driving him to insanity.

2 - I love this story because it is wierd and obscure. It's also beautifully written because it is a poem as well as a story. My favorite part is in the end where the man becomes furious with the one word spoken raven and tries to catch it. But it flies away and the man ends up collapsing. The final sentence is "and my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor shall be lifted nevermore" 


3- The author is Edgar Allan Poe, he was born January 19, 1809 – October 7, 1849. He is no longer alive, but was very well known in his time.

STEPHEN KING "THE MIST"


1 -   The mist is a story about how a dimension was accidently opened by the u.s army, and an eerie mist besets upon a small down. Lurking in the thick fog are alien creatures from that portal that was open. The story centers on a man and his son, and how they remain trapped inside a grocery store with other people because they fear the dangers of outside.




2- I love this story because it is scary, and very emotional. My favorite part is in the end where the boy and his father and a few others tried to escape and seek help in a car. But eventually after hours of driving the car runs out of gas and stops. They can hear the creatures closing in on the car. The dad has a gun that has 4 bullets, yet 5 of them are in the car. In thinking he'd give his love ones the easy way out, and leaving himself to be ripped apart by the creatures, he shoots them all in the head including his son. They all gave him consent to do so. They die quick and painlessly, and the father gets out of the car, ready to be eatened. But then, the army tanks come, and burn the creatures. The father had killed his friends and son for nothing.
